Recode co-founder Kara Swisher recently sat down with Kara Switzer to talk about the company’s new website, We Are The Worlds, as well as her company’s plans for bringing her new podcast to more people.
Swisher talked about how the company made the transition from the podcasting world to the podcast community and how the podcast business is changing.
“It was a tough transition,” Swisher said.
“I think we’re doing a great job right now.”
Recode: How did you decide to build We Are the Worlds, and why did you choose to focus on the podcast?
Swisher: It was just something I always wanted to do, and I’m a huge podcast fan, and the idea of trying to be a podcast was really fun.
Kara Switzers new podcast We Are THE World, launched in September.
It’s based on her new book, The Un-American Way, which explores the American political and cultural landscape through the lens of a world view that has little to do with the real world.
Switzerman said she wanted to make a podcast about the real-world problems that people face, but also the world she imagines.
“My goal was to try to capture some of that conversation,” she said.
